Six months ago, I embarked on a new journey, finding my way to the vibrant town of Cary. Little did I know that this move would connect me with a lively Indian community and an incredible organization, AABAJ (American Association of Bihar and Jharkhand in Cary). As the Diwali festivities settled, the AABAJ team kicked into action, meticulously planning the Chhath Puja event. Being a newcomer in Cary, I often wondered how I'd observe this sacred ritual so far from home. To my pleasant surprise, the AABAJ team not only welcomed me with open arms but also orchestrated an event that surpassed all expectations.
Three families, including mine, observed the Vrat, and thanks to the impeccable organization, we didn't have to worry about a single detail. Volunteers joined us for Kharna prasad, adding a joyous touch to the occasion. The turnout for the prasad was heartening, with many joining us, showering blessings, and creating a delightful atmosphere. The seamless coordination and support provided by AABAJ and the community turned what could have been a challenging experience into a heartwarming celebration, fostering a sense of unity among us.
Community Spirit and Thekua Preparation:
The following day, volunteers extended their helping hands once again, this time for Thekua preparation. The burden of arrangements lifted, thanks to the thoughtful planning by another team at the temple. The organizers were pillars of support, always available for assistance, making the entire experience seamless. The collaborative effort put into the Thekua preparation showcased the strength of community bonds and the dedication of AABAJ to create a memorable celebration for everyone involved.
Enchanting Sandhya Argh:
On the day of Sandhya Argh at the temple, the ambiance was enchanting. The overwhelming number of participants, their devotion, and the collective spirit were truly remarkable. Noteworthy was a participant who traveled a significant distance to be part of the Chhath Puja with the Bihar community, offering prasad for the Puja. The dedication of the women was particularly inspiring, participating in the rituals with unwavering devotion. Despite the morning Argh being met with chilly temperatures, families gathered, fostering a sense of unity, devotion, and mutual assistance.
This Chhath Puja in Cary turned out to be a heartwarming experience, thanks to the efforts of AABAJ and the incredible community spirit. The seamless coordination, support, and the shared joy added a touch of home to this celebration. 🙏✨ As I reflect on my journey in Cary, I am grateful for the connections made, and the Chhath Puja celebration stands out as a testament to the warmth and inclusivity of the Indian community in this vibrant town. With each ritual and shared moment, the bonds strengthened, making Cary truly feel like a home away from home.
